It can be hard to know exactly what size Hydro Flask to get and which is going to best suit your needs.

You might not want one too small, but also don't want one that's going to be too big and bulky.

Do you need it to fit in your cup holder? Do you prefer a wider mouth to make adding ice cubes easier?

Interesting Things To Consider

There are a few interesting things I discovered when making this Hydro Flask Size Chart.

Standard Mouth Bottles are A Tiny Bit Thinner Than Wide Mouth Bottles

The standard mouth bottles obviously have a thinner opening at the top, but did you know they are also thinner at the base?

Standard Mouth bottles are 2.87 inches (7.23 cm) in diameter at the base of the bottle while the Wide Mouth bottles are 2.91 inches (7.39 cm) in diameter at the base of the bottle.

While this isn't a huge difference on paper, in reality this tiny change can mean the difference between your bottle fitting in your cup holder vs not fitting in your cup holder.

I don't know about you but I hate it when my bottle doesn't fit in the cup holder of my car. So for this reason I think I prefer the standard mouth bottles even though I do like the wide mouth bottles.

The Wine Bottle Fits a Standard Lid

Like the design of the tall black wine bottle with the slightly longer neck?

Well it's good to know that this bottle has the same diameter mouth as the Standard Mouth bottles which means it will fit any standard mouth lid.

Standard Mouth and Wide Mouth Lids Are NOT Compatible For Two Reasons

I think this is pretty obvious to most people but the Standard Mouth and the Wide Mouth lids are not compatible with each other.

Not only are they different sizes but the thread is in a different place too.

The thread of the Standard Mouth bottles is on the inside while the thread of the Wide Mouth bottles is on the outside.

Coffee Bottles ARE The Same As Wide Mouth, Fit The Same Lids

Originally I thought the 20 oz Coffee bottle was just different to the 20 oz Wide Mouth bottle but the specs say that the Coffee bottle is taller.

If you look below at the specs for the 12 oz Kids vs the 12 oz Coffee you can see that the kids bottle is taller.

However, these bottles are exactly the same. They have the same diameter and they have the same mouth diameter. The height difference is caused by the difference in height of the lids.

I found on the Australian site two 12 oz Coffee bottles but each with different lids and while the diameter specs were the same the heights were different.

This means all Hydro Flask Coffee bottles can fit the same lids as the Hydro Flask Wide Mouth bottles and visa versa.

12-25 oz Are Thin, 32 & 40 oz Are Thicker, 64 Are Thicker Again

The smaller Hydro Flask bottles from 12 oz to 25 oz all have basically the same thickness/diameter with a slight variation in the Standard Mouth and Wide Mouth diameter.

However, once you hit the 32 oz the diameter increases significantly from 2.89-2.91 inches to 3.58 inches. This will definitely NOT fit in most cup holders.

The 64 oz Wide Mouth and 64 oz Growler are wider again at 4.72 inches and the Oasis bottles are the widest Hydro Flask bottles at a thick 5.8 inches.
