It can be really difficult to decide on what type of Hydro Flask to get. There are so many different sizes and there is also the choice between a standard mouth and a wide mouth bottle plus don't even get me started on the color combinations you can choose.
There are 15 different sizes of Hydro Flask bottles (not including the lightweight series) and these range anywhere from 12 oz (355mL) to 128 oz or 1 gallon (3.79 L).
Smaller sizes are more lightweight and portable and can more easily fit in your bag or in the cupholders of your car. The larger sizes are wider and heavier and less practical to carry around but you don't have to refill them as much making them better for some people.

12-24 oz Hydro Flasks Are The Skinniest and Best For Fitting in Cup Holders
The smaller sized Hydro Flasks (from the 12 oz to the 24 oz) in both the standard mouth and the wide mouth have the smallest diameter.
This means they are more likely to fit in a cup holder and will be easier to hold with one hand. Click here to see my tests on whether or not a Hydro Flask fits in a cup holder.
Once you jump up to the 32 oz size the bottles get A LOT wider and won't fit in cup holders anymore.
Only The Wide Mouth Bottles Fit The Straw Lid
A lot of people love the flip up straw lid and it's easy to understand why. Unscrewing and screwing back up the normal Hydro Flask lid can get tedious so just flipping up the straw makes drinking more water easier.
This is a popular lid for kids, high-school and college student.
If you want this lid then you need to get yourself a wide mouth bottle (not the standard mouth).
32 oz is a Popular Size
32 oz is big, but it's actually one of the more popular sizes.
School and college age kids seem to gravitate towards this size as well as trades people and laborers who do a lot of physical labor and thus need to drink more water during the day.
In my full Hydro Flask size guide you can see that the 32 oz is actually shorter than the 21 oz standard mouth and is a similar height to the 20 oz bottles.
This is because the 32 oz is much wider and so can hold more volume.
So if you want a large bottle then a 32 oz is a very popular choice.
