How Do You Turn On The Ember Mug?
It's easy to turn on the Ember Mug and get started.
To turn on the Ember Mug press and hold the power button on the bottom of the mug until the white LED light turns on. To turn on the Ember Travel Mug press and hold the logo button for 3 seconds until it turns on.
How To Turn On Ember Mug
There is a power button located on the bottom of your Ember Mug. If you wish to turn on your Ember Mug then simply hold this button for approximately 3 seconds until the white LED light turns on.
The Ember Mug is now turned on and ready to go. But don't worry because the heating element won't kick in until it detects that your cup contains liquid.
When left by itself Ember will enter a sleep mode and will wake itself up one you pick up the cup.
How To Turn On Ember Travel Mug
Turning on the Ember Travel Mug can be confusing if you don't know what to do. The power button is behind the Ember logo.
Simply press and hold the Ember logo for 3 seconds to turn on the Ember Travel Mug.
You'll know it's powered on when you see the “HELLO” text appear towards the bottom of the cup.
You can also press the Ember logo to toggle between temperature settings, current temperature and battery power.

How Do You Turn Off The Ember Mug?
Turning off the Ember Mug works in the same way as turning it on.
To turn off the Ember Mug press and hold the power button on the bottom for 3 seconds until the white LED light turns off. To turn off the Ember Travel Mug press and hold the Ember logo for 3 seconds until you see the “OFF?” message. Tap to confirm and it will say “BYE” and then switch off. Both Ember mugs go into sleep mode when not in use and will wake up when you pick them up so you don't need to turn them off.
How To Turn Off The Ember Mug
The Ember Mug is pretty smart and generally speaking you don't actually NEED to turn it off.
When it doesn't have any liquid in it and you're not using it then it'll go into a sleep mode where hardly any power is used. When you pick up your cup it'll detect the motion and turn itself back on.
If however you do want to completely turn it off to conserve power or give yourself peace of mind then you can do so by simply pressing and holding the power button on the bottom for 3 seconds and you'll see the white LED light fade.
When the light has completely faded you'll know that your mug is off.
How To Turn Off The Ember Travel Mug
You may want to turn off your Ember Travel Mug in order to save power or to charge it faster.
Turning it off is simple. Simply press and hold the Ember button at the front for 3 seconds.
You'll then see a message saying “OFF?” When you see this press the Ember logo again to confirm. If you don't press this then it will stay on.
After confirming the Ember Travel Mug will flask the words “GOOD” and then “BYE” and when the words fade the cup is now turned off.
How Do I Use Ember Mug Without App?
The Ember Mug and Ember Travel Mug can pair with your phone via bluetooth but how do you use an Ember Mug without the app?
It's actually really easy to do:
To use the Ember Mug without the app press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn it on. By default it will keep drinks warm to 135ºF. To use the Ember Travel Mug without the app press and hold the logo for 3 seconds to turn it on, then rotate the base of the mug to adjust the temperature.
The Ember Mug and Ember Travel Mug are designed to be connected to your phone via bluetooth so you can manage your temperature setting on there.
However, Ember makes you sign up for an account and accept a privacy policy in order to use the app.
Maybe you don't want your coffee cup knowing your browsing history or maybe you just want to get your Ember Mug up and running without the app. That's totally fine.
All the Ember Mugs will work fine even with no connectivity to your phone. This is true for the Ember Mug 1 and Ember Mug 2.
However, connecting to your phone does provide you with some extra options that you can use to make your Ember Mug even better.
Here are the options you get:
- Choose the temperature of your Ember Mug
- Change the color of the LED on the Ember Mug
- Create a custom name for your cup
- Volume control for the temperature dial on the Ember Travel mug
- Select between ºF and ºC
- Assigning temperature presets for just the way you like it
- Updating your mug's firmware
Really the app has very limited functionality and with the Ember Travel Mug it's not really needed at all.
However, I can see how it would be useful for the Ember Mug as it has no way to adjust the temperature other than through the app.
