Putting stickers on your Hydro Flask can be a great way to express your individuality. But what do you do when you want to take your stickers off your Hydro Flask?
How do you get stickers off a Hydro Flask without damaging the paint?
This can be a bit tricky because a lot of these stickers don't rip off easily and leave behind paper or residue. You also don't want to scrape it too hard or you'll scratch your Hydro Flask paint.
Ideally: Use High Quality Vinyl Stickers
If you're looking for stickers for your Hydro Flask it can be tempting to go with the cheapest stickers you can find because then you get so many more for so much less.
However these cheap stickers can leave sticky residue on your Hydro Flask that can be hard to clean. Also cheaper stickers don't wash as well and will look bad if they get wet too often.
High-quality vinyl stickers can handle getting wet and when it comes time to get them off it's SO MUCH EASIER to remove them.
But if you're having trouble removing them of you've got any type of sticker you want to remove we've got you covered with the below techniques.
Each of them is a little bit different so choose the one that best suits you, or combine methods for better results.
See If They Just Peel Off
If you've invested in good stickers then chances are they'll just come straight off.
All you have to do is apply some care when peeling them off and you should be fine.
The below video is a great example where a guy simply peels off his stickers with his hands. He has zero issues with the stickers ripping or getting stuck on his Hydro Flask
Warm Up The Stickers With Hair Dryer
Sometimes simply warming up your stickers with a hair dryer is enough to make them come off more easily.
The warm air from the hair dryer can melt the glue and allow the stickers to peel off easily.
You want to make sure your don't burn the Hydro Flask paint, but that isn't easy to do and as long as you're being careful it should be fine.
The hotter you can make the stickers the better. Then use a soft plastic or wooden scraper to remove the stickers being careful not to scratch the Hydro Flask paint.
Use Warm Soapy Water
Warm soapy water can do a few things.
Firstly, the heat from the water will help to melt the glue making it easier to remove.
Secondly, the water can be absorbed into cheaper paper stickers making them easier to scrape off.
Thirdly, the detergent can help break down the glue and make it easier to remove.
- Fill up your sink with hot soapy water and put your Hydro Flasks in it making sure that it is fully submerged in the water
- Leave to soak for a couple of minutes
- Then scrape off the stickers with your hand, a soft plastic scraper/spatula or even a soft cloth or towel can be enough to get the stickers off.
Use Goo Gone Spray
Goo Gone is a special liquid you get which is perfectly designed for removing sticky residue like that used on stickers.
You can see below someone using Goo Gone to remove cheap paper stickers from a wooden table.
Goo Gone isn't that expensive and it works really well.
- Spray your stickers with Goo Gone
- Scrape off with a soft plastic scraper/spatula (don't use metal)
- Or wipe off with a soft cloth
For harder residue Goo Gone recommend spraying it and leaving it for 5-10 minutes before scraping it off. This gives the time of the chemicals to soak into the stickers.
This should affect the paint of your Hydro Flask but they do advise you test on an inconspicuous area first just in case it does have an unwanted effect.

Iso Alcohol + Soft Cloth
If you don't have Goo Gone or don't want to spend money on it then iso alcohol is another method for removing tough residue.
Simply use a cotton wool bud or a cloth to apply the alcohol to the sticker or residue. Leave it to soak for a bit and then scrap away the sticker residue with a plastic scraper (credit cards can work) or with a soft cloth.
You might not get it all the first time so apply the same process and repeat and eventually you'll have a completely clean Hydro Flask
Cover Your Stickers With New Stickers
If you're like this Reddit user who is starting a new job and has some inappropriate stickers on their Hydro Flask that they want to remove or for some reason you can't get your stickers off completely then there is a simple solution…
Cover up your old stickers with new stickers
Do you best to peel off what you can of the stickers you don't want on your Hydro Flask. Use the methods mentioned above to get your Hydro Flask as clean as possible.
However, if you are still struggling to get all of the sticker residue off or if you are scared or damaging the Hydro Flask paint then maybe you should just stick a new sticker over the top.
If you don't try to remove your old stickers first then this can create big bumps which don't look great. That's why I recommend trying to remove as much of the old sticker from the bottle as you can before putting the new stickers over the top.
It'll hide the old sticker super easily and it will be more representative of who you are now. Easy solution!
Paint Your Hydro Flask
While it's not a perfect solution you might want to ditch the stickers all together and paint your Hydro Flask.

Buy a New Hydro Flask
If all else fails and you end up with a gooey and disgusting Hydro Flask that is full or ripped stickers or is completely scratched from your removal attempts then you could always consider buying a new Hydro Flask.
