What Size Stanley Cup Should I Buy? GET THE RIGHT SIZE

When people think of Stanley Cups, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the 40 oz Quencher H2.0 Flowstate Tumbler. After all, it’s the one that blew up on TikTok and felt like it was sold out everywhere for months.

But what many people don’t realize is, Stanley also makes their Quencher Tumblers in four other sizes — ranging from a modest 14 oz all the way up to a massive 64 oz.

When buying one you want to make sure you get the right one. I was recently at the climbing gym and one girl had accidentally bought the larger size and she was devastated that she didn’t have the same size as everyone else.

So which size Stanley Cup should you buy? Is it better to stick to the 40 oz or is there a better option for you?

The classic 40 oz Stanley Cup is the best choice for most people. It’s the most versatile, comes in by far the most colors, and can hold enough water for an entire work or school day for the average person. They’re the most popular Stanley Cup size for good reason.

That being said, there are certainly niche uses for the other sizes.

The smaller Quenchers are perfect if you just want something to keep your coffee hot or iced coffee cold through the morning. Or if you need something to keep you hydrated for the entire day and 40 oz isn’t cutting it, the 64 oz Quencher may be more your style.

The Good (And Bad) With Every Stanley Cup Size

A lot of people don’t realize that Stanley Cups come in five different sizes, from 14 oz all the way up to 64 oz — each with their own pros and cons.

30 and 40 oz Stanley Cups

The 40 oz Flowstate Tumbler, and to an extent the 30 oz, are by far the most popular Stanley Cup sizes for a reason.

The handle is really comfortable and convenient, they hold more than enough water to keep most people hydrated through their entire work or school day, and, thanks to TikTok, are super stylish to have (if that’s your thing).

If your kid asks for a Stanley Cup or you’re getting one for someone as a gift, the 40 oz Quencher is by far the safest bet.

My only real complaint is that they’re a bit on the large side — especially when compared to water bottles with a similar capacity.

Just take a look at my Stanley Cup compared to my Hydro Flasks to get an idea of how big they actually are.

14 and 20 oz Stanley Cups

The 14 oz and 20 oz Quenchers are just smaller, handle-less versions of the classic 40 oz Stanley Cup.

If you just need your Stanley for a cup of iced coffee in the morning and aren’t relying on it for all-day hydration — they’re a solid option because they’re so much more portable.

They work perfectly for what they are, they’re just not really what most people are looking for when they want a Stanley Cup.

Compact without compromise, our smallest and lightest Quencher H2.0 is a great choice for quick and easy sipping, wherever the day takes you. Fill it with water, iced coffee or tea, or other favorite cold drink, and the double-wall vacuum insulation will keep things chilled for hours. The 14 oz size is also perfect for kids, encouraging them to stay hydrated at home, school or the playground.

64 oz Stanley Cup

The 64 oz Quencher is a gigantic half gallon beast of a tumbler.

It may be overkill for a cup of coffee, but it’s large enough to hold more than enough water to hydrate the average adult for an entire day (and then some).

But while that sounds great in theory, I’m not a huge fan.

64 oz Stanleys aren’t cup holder-friendly, meaning if you’re doing anything other than sitting around the house, they’re kind of a pain to use.

Trying to drive with one in particular is a nightmare because they’re not completely leak-proof, meaning you can’t just sit it on your passenger seat without having to worry about leaks.

If I need something that can hold an entire day’s worth of water, I’d rather just stick to a half gallon bottle.

How To Choose The Right Size Stanley Cup Size For You

Choosing the best size Stanley Cup mostly comes down to how you plan to use your tumbler, how much you drink in a day, how readily you can refill it, and what features are most important to you.

How Will You Use Your Stanley Cup?

The first consideration I make when buying a tumbler or bottle is how exactly I plan to use it.

If I’m just looking for a tumbler to use for a cup iced coffee on my morning commute, it doesn’t make much sense to get a huge 40 or 64 oz tumbler — considering that I only drink about 20 oz of coffee or tea a day max.

But if I’m relying on it for my daily hydration, I’m gonna want something bigger, or else have to deal with refilling it every couple of hours.

How Much Do You Drink A Day?

Getting a gauge on how much you drink throughout the day can give you a pretty good idea of which Stanley Cup might work the best for you.

Just keep track for a few days and buy the Stanley that makes the most sense.

Tearing through 60 oz of water a day? Consider a 64 oz Quencher.

Only drinking 16 oz? A 20 or 30 oz Stanley should do the trick (try to drink more water though).

Just keep in mind, most of us drink considerably more during the summer months and a good bit less during the winter — so adjust accordingly.

How Often Can You Refill Your Stanley?

Figuring out exactly how much you drink in a day will help you pick the right size Stanley, but if you have easy access to refill throughout the day, you can probably get away with a much smaller Stanley if that’s what you’d prefer.

I’d much rather get my half gallon of water in by refilling my 40 oz once in the afternoon than by lugging around a 64 oz Stanley all day.

What Features Are Must-Haves For You?

And lastly, not all Stanley Cups share all of the same features. If there’s one or two that are super important to you, it may be easy to eliminate a few choices.

What’s The Best Stanley Cup Size?

The 40 oz Stanley Cup is my favorite size and it’s not particularly close.

They’re versatile enough to be used for a cup of iced coffee in the morning and, after a quick rinse, keep me hydrated through the rest of the day without needing to be refilled until I’m home in the evening.

They come in by far the most colors, especially since most limited edition colorways are only available in the 40 oz.

And they have the ergonomic handle, cup holder-friendly base, and wide mouth straw that helped make Stanley Cups so popular to begin with.

You can also get ones with a soft matte exterior finish which a lot of people love.

The grippable silicone finish offers a stylish, sophisticated look and a warm, velvety feel. Yet it’s dishwasher safe with all the durability you count on from Stanley. Beneath the unique Soft Matte finish is recycled stainless steel construction and double-wall vacuum insulation. And at the top is an advanced FlowState™ lid, featuring a rotating cover with three positions: a straw opening designed to resist splashes with a seal that holds the reusable straw in place, a drink opening, and a full-cover top for added leak resistance.
